Young New Zealanders Challenge
Duke of Edinburgh
Welcome to D of E Central!
The beginning of the year is always a good time to take stock of where we are at. How is your D of E award progress?
I love to hear how you are getting on! If you have finished a section (Skill, Physical Recreation, Service or Expedition) send me a copy of your record book page (email or post) and I will send you a section certificate. You can put these in your CV until you finish an award (Bronze, Silver or Gold).
Do you have a expedition log book to finish off? Is it the last thing to do to finish the award? Do it now before the year gets too busy!
Contact the Auckland Guide Centre for an address to send your completed log to.
Do you find it hard to know if something will count? Ask yourself: Is it going to be a challenge? Am I going to show commitment over the full period of time? Am I being true to the spirit of the award? Yes? Then you are on the right track! If you are still unsure, talk to your leader or give me a call.
Remember to talk to your assessor before you begin a new section. After you talk you can fill in the 'agreed statement of aims' on the new activity record. This makes their job easier and helps you to know what is expected.
Did you know there is a new record book? It is for one level at a time. Using your old one is just fine, but if you sign up new, you will need a new record book for each award.
Ranger Leaders: Do you want to know more about the Award so you can guide your girls with confidence? Do you want to know about cross crediting between the award and the ranger programme? I have some resources to help you! Or I can visit your unit. The Auckland Guide Centre can give you my contact details.
Good luck with all the challenges you undertake
