Puzzle

Take some tongue depressors or iceblock sticks and stick to the back of a card that has a nice picture on it. Carefully cut between the sticks and you have a puzzle that the girls can put together. They are so quick and easy to make you could make one for each girl, keep in the cupboard for a 5min fill-in.

Lip Gloss

So easy to make: put 1tbsp of Kremelta and 1tsp honey in a small bowl and mix together. In another bowl, add some powered drink mix and 1tsp of hot water to dissolve. Stir in as much of the drink mix as possible. The actual amount will depend on the temperature of water. The more you can dissolve, the stronger the flavour will be. You can choose the colour and flavour of you lip gloss by the type of drink mix you use. Add one drop of the water mixture to the kremelta/honey base. Stir well. Repeat until you get the colour/flavour combination you want. Pour into a clean container – how about a film canister or old lip gloss pot. Store in the refrigerator. Keeps for 3 days but it tastes so good that you will use it up very fast!

Game: See you Later Alligator

Equipment: different coloured bandanas, hoops (2 or 3) depends on number of girls playing How to Play: To begin, select a couple of girls to be the "game wardens" (give them the bandanas so all will know who they are). Place the hoops randomly around the room. The rest of the girls are the alligators. On "GO", the alligators run to keep from being tagged; the game wardens run to tag the alligators. If an alligator is tagged, the game warden and alligator switch roles (give bandana to new warden). The alligators are safe when in a hoop, but only one alligator is allowed in the hoop at a time. If you're in the hoop, I must say "See you later alligator" so I can enter the hoop and you must leave. This game can go on f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Game: Hunt the Slipper

All but one of the players sit in a circle. One sits in the middle, She closes her eyes and puts her hands over them. The players chant the following words: “Cobbler, cobbler mend your shoe, Have it done by half past two”. During this chant the circle pass round a slipper behind their backs. The centre player then chants “Cobbler, cobbler tell me true, Which of you has got my shoe?” When the last word is chanted, the circle stop passing the slipper and the player who has it makes sure it is hidden behind their back. The central player opens her eyes and has to guess who has the slipper just by looking at their faces. If she fails, she changes places with the person who holds the slipper. TIP: for Pippins use a dolls shoe.

Igloo Polar Bear

Game: Eskimos in the Igloo

Girls stand in a circle with a partner behind them, who stands with her feet apart. Leader calls Eskimo Hunting, inside circle girls dive through legs of partner and run around the outside of the circle until the leader calls Polar Bears Coming. Continuing the way they are running, girls dive back through their partners legs and sit cross legged in front of her. Swap over every now and then to give everyone a turn.

Yummy Snack

Do you need to make some gifts in a hurry? No time to make a craft – then make a Yummy Snack treat. In a bowl put equal quantities of packaged cereal, nuts and raisins, pretzels, etc and add 1/4tsp garlic salt for a savoury taste or coconut and brown sugar for a sweeter taste. Get Pippins to mix in a bowl with wooden spoon, then put into snap lock bags or cellophane bags and tie off. Guess they'll want some too (make sure no one has an allergy to nuts – if so, make a small mix omitting nuts).

Sleigh Race

You will need a different coloured sheet of paper for each girl. Out of each sheet cut 9 small squares and 1 large Sleigh. Have eight points marked off around the room & numbered 1-8. Line girls up shoulder to shoulder behind the first point. Give each girl a coloured sleigh. Shuffle the coloured squares & draw them out one at a time. Whoever has the matching coloured sleigh goes to the next point when her colour is drawn. The first one to complete all 8 points wins. (ps after Xmas, you could use animals, flowers etc in place of the sleigh)

Santa's Beans

What you need: 1 egg carton per team, and a good handful of beans. If you wish you can number each of the egg cups 1-12.
To Play: Girls in teams, & in turn pick up a bean and run to other end & place in egg cup & run back to their team. You can call which number of the cup they should place their bean in, or alternatively one by one they place a bean in each cup but must end up with the right number of beans in each cup eg, cup #5 has five beans etc

What I want for Xmas

Girls in circle. First girl says, What I want for Xmas is an art set, the second girl says, What I want for Xmas is an art set and a Barbie doll. Continue going through the alphabet, they may not be able to remember more than 10-12 items but see how far they can go.

Xmas Wreath

Use those old jigsaw puzzles, paint the pieces green & stick at least 2 layers (3 is better)of these around the perimeter of the circle. Add red ribbon, beads, etc.
