Asia Pacific Young Leaders Scholarship 2004
The Asia Pacific Young Leaders Scholarship is available for young women between the ages of 18 and 35 years who are active members of National Organisations in the Asia Pacific Region to attend gatherings or events selected by the AP Committee. Each year the Committee will decide the number of scholarships offered and the amount of funding available.
The successful applicant must make a commitment to remain in Guiding for at least two years and share her experiences and skills with members of their Organisation on their return.
The National President must endorse the application and ensure that proof is provided that the young woman meets the criteria listed below.
The applicant must demonstrate that she has:
- Had some exposure to the workings of her National Organisation and Regional structure that covers National issues.
- Attributes/qualities/qualifications that could be used in one of the WAGGGS Sub Committees and/or WAGGGS Regional Ad Hoc Groups.
- Show commitment to international Guiding through involvement in raising money for Thinking Day, Mutual Aid or similar international project.
- A good knowledge of her country and be able to share her culture and the way her country works with other people within the political and social system.
- A good knowledge of her National Organisation's structures and policies and is well informed about the Girl Guiding programme and current initiatives of her Association.
- A willingness to develop herself further and take up challenges.
- An active relationship with the girls/adults with whom she works.
- Carried out a project to publicise Guiding in her region.
New Zealand may submit one nominee each year. There is no application form. Applicants are asked to present details of how they meet the criteria, in any manner they wish. Written applications should be set out in headings, going down the list of bullet points.
Applicants must sign an agreement to stay with Guides New Zealand for at least two years after attending the event.
These guidelines will be reviewed at the beginning of each triennium to ensure that they are aligned with the new strategic plan for the coming triennium.
Applications need to be sent to the National International Adviser, International Department, by 1 December 2004.
